🚨 Shocking E.coli Levels at Popular Welsh Swimming Spot! 🚨

A beautiful wild swimming haven on the River Wye, The Warren in Hay-on-Wye, has recorded alarming levels of E.coli. 🏊♀️ A dedicated group of volunteers, Friends of the River Wye, uncovered these concerning figures, with E.coli measurements reaching over 3,000 CFU per 100ml of water. That’s triple what’s deemed safe! 😨
The Warren, loved by families, paddleboarders, and wild swimmers alike, was granted bathing water status just two years ago. But now, these new findings raise questions about safety and water quality.

Friends of the River Wye are on it, though! They’ll continue testing every Thursday during the bathing season, giving you the latest info. Unlike the longer wait for official updates from Natural Resources Wales (NRW), you’ll get rapid results from the volunteers.
NRW is sticking to its robust testing methods, which they say are built for long-term insights rather than immediate updates. They’re working hard with partners to improve the water quality, urging anybody planning a dip to check the latest findings before taking the plunge.
Remember, water quality can change rapidly due to rain or agricultural runoff, so always stay informed. If you’ve got any concerns about the river’s condition, report it to NRW immediately.
Stay safe and let’s ensure our beautiful spots remain as pristine as they should be! 🏞️✨ #RiverWye #WaterSafety #EcoliAlert #StayInformed
