π±ππ¦ Sustainable Living in Wales! πΏ

In a unique stride towards sustainability, Dave and Mayu Phillips have been granted permission to breed guinea pigs, rabbits, and pigeons for food as part of their eco-friendly lifestyle in Pembrokeshire! π The council has approved their One Planet Development scheme, allowing them to not only grow veggies, produce honey, and harvest walnuts, but also support a self-sufficient lifestyle with small-scale livestock farming.

Their venture at Walnut Grove, near Jeffreyston, will see them not only continuing Dave’s family tradition of honey farming but also expanding into vegetable gardening and innovative products like walnuts preserved in honey and walnut-infused cider vinegar. π₯ππ―

With over 50 walnut trees planted decades ago and an apiary bustling with bees, the Phillips are combining traditional skills with modern sustainability goals. And yes, although their plan includes breeding guinea pigs, these are heftier than your average pet and are quite akin to rabbits in terms of meat production. πΉπ°
By their fifth year, they’re projecting an income of Β£13,450-Β£16,850, highlighting that living sustainably can also be financially viable. This exciting project is yet another step towards proving that we can all do our part to keep our planet thriving. π³πͺ
The councilβs backing emphasises the importance of sustainable living initiatives, blending innovative practices with our everyday lives. Councilor Mark Carter expressed his support, intrigued by the unique aspects of the proposal.
Hereβs to a greener future! πΏπ
