Get ready, Barry Island! A 100-year-old toilet block at Nell’s Point has been reborn into the stylish Morio Lounge, ready to open its doors on Saturday, 11th July. What a transformation! Loungers, the café-bar group known for creating inviting spaces, has worked magic on this Grade II listed building. With vibrant wallpapers, colourful tiling, and vintage furniture, it’s a feast for the eyes even before your meal arrives. Expect an all-day menu bursting with choices: brunch classics, tapas, salads, burgers, tacos, noodles, and fried chicken, plus vegan and gluten-free options. There’s something for everyone, including a special menu for the little ones with games and activities to keep them entertained.

After facing setbacks due to power connection issues, the venue is now buzzing with anticipation. Morio Lounge has not only revitalised a historic site but has also created about 30 new jobs for the area. Matt Birch, the general manager, shared his excitement: “We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome the community into Morio Lounge. The local support has been amazing, and we can’t wait to offer a place where everyone can enjoy great food, drinks, and a brilliant atmosphere.”

Don’t miss out on this new hotspot that promises to be a delightful addition to Barry Island. Who knew a former loo could become the go-to place for food and fun? Mark your calendars for the grand opening and be part of the buzz!
