Morrisons has made a surprising U-turn at 13 of its stores after facing an outcry from customers! Last year, the supermarket chain decided to close 70 of its beloved Market Street counters as part of a cost-cutting strategy. However, loyal shoppers weren’t having it and voiced their frustrations loud and clear!

In response to the feedback, Morrisons has begun bringing back the fish and meat counters, which are a staple of its identity. As of now, five locations have already seen the return of these fresh counters, and eight more are set to follow suit. According to a Morrisons spokesperson, “Our Market Street counters are part of our DNA. They’re at the heart of our offer and a real differentiator for us.”

Not only are the counters making a comeback, but they’re also being spruced up! Expect modern features like flatbeds, expanded grab-and-go selections, and digital ordering screens at some pizza counters.
But wait, there’s more! The retailer is still evaluating which of the remaining counters will reopen, so keep an eye out for announcements of more stores joining the list. Here’s where they’ve started the revival: Chapel-en-le-Frith, London Queensbury, St Helens Baxter’s Lane, Speke, Herne Bay, Thornbury, Great Park in Newcastle, Bath London Road, London Enfield, Bolton Dawes, Porth, Yeadon in Leeds, and Todmorden.
If you’ve missed these counters, now’s the time to visit, or perhaps wait for one to reopen near you! 🍖🐟🥳
