🚧 Cambrian View: The Road with More Holes than Swiss Cheese! 🧀

Drivers are avoiding Penrhyndeudraeth’s potholed nightmare as it turns Cambrian View into a literal obstacle course! With over 50 potholes on a mere 200-meter stretch, many locals are choosing to detour rather than risk their cars.

Enter Dave Neve, the pothole warrior! This former councillor is threatening to close the road unless it’s resurfaced, and he’s even joking about forming a campaign group with a cheeky acronym: CRAP—Campaign for Real Action on Potholes. 😂
Dave points out that patching these potholes costs around £9,000 annually, yet the fixes are temporary at best. For long-term relief, a total resurfacing might be a hefty £35,000 per 100 meters, but it could save heaps in the long run by lasting a decade.
Local councils across Wales are feeling the finance pinch, paying out £130,000 in compensation just last year. Even with budget boosts from the Welsh Government, they’re in a constant game of catch-up to tackle these treacherous road surfaces.
But fear not! Good news is on the horizon as scheduled roadworks are set to take place in October/November 2026. The local council assures that they’re teaming up with utilities to lay down a new surface without constant dig-ups.
Here’s hoping for smoother journeys soon! 🚗💨 Share your own pothole stories in the comments below! 👇
