A peaceful night in with mates turned into a nightmare for two friends in Llanelli. What started as a chill evening with some drinks and a takeaway ended with one man needing major surgery and the other facing legal troubles!

Simon Morgan, a 49-year-old Tata Steel worker, was having a good time with friends at his brother’s house when a heated argument broke out. What triggered the tension remains a mystery, but it escalated quickly. When Morgan returned from fetching money for their takeaway, his brother’s friend got aggressive, striking Morgan first.
The night spiralled out of control as Morgan retaliated, knocking the man to the ground and punching him until he believed he passed out. Later, the victim realised he couldn’t stand on his left leg and was rushed to the hospital. There, doctors discovered severe injuries – fractures in his leg and ankle, requiring metal plates and rods.

Morgan, who has a history of violent offences, was in court to face the music. The judge called out his temper issues and past violent outbursts, but Morgan’s legal team argued the strikes were excessive self-defence. Despite the court drama, Morgan managed to get a suspended sentence of 14 months, along with community service and rehabilitation plans.

The case has left an impact. The victim now struggles with pain and anxiety, while Morgan, reflecting on his actions, is concerned about how the situation affects his family. A stark reminder of how quickly things can turn chaotic, the judge noted the need for reform and criticised the delay in bringing the charges.
Let this be a lesson in keeping cool. Tempers can quickly turn a pleasant evening into a life-altering incident! 😮
