🚨 Major Blaze in Swansea City Centre 🚨
A significant fire has erupted at an industrial unit in Dyfatty, Swansea. Firefighters and emergency services were on the scene shortly after 12.30pm on Saturday, responding to what has been described as a “large-scale incident”. 🚒
Thick plumes of black smoke can be seen billowing across the city, affecting areas as distant as Mumbles. South Wales Police reported smoke surrounding the Matthew Street flats, and locals were urged to keep doors and windows closed for safety.
The fire service deployed ten appliances, including six main pumps and a high-volume pump, to control the blaze. Thankfully, by 4pm, the incident was “under control,” although the damage to the building is severe. Quick action by firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to adjacent properties.
As investigations proceed, road closures are in effect from Dyfatty Street to Orchard Street and Newhall Road. 🛑
