Wayne Rooney’s not holding back this time! The football legend went off in a fiery live rant on BBC Sport, labelling FIFA’s decision to suspend US striker Folarin Balogun’s one-game ban a total “disgrace.” Balogun, who received a red card in the USA’s World Cup match against Bosnia-Herzegovina, was expected to sit out the crucial last-16 clash with Belgium. But in a shocking twist, FIFA decided to suspend the ban for an entire year, much to Rooney’s dismay.

Rooney, famous for speaking his mind, compared it to his own experience: “I got a three-game ban before Euro 2012 and had to do a training session in Switzerland to have one game knocked off. But this suspension? It’s just not fair play.”

Even US President Donald Trump chimed in, thanking FIFA for “reversing a great injustice,” amid reports he personally contacted FIFA President Gianni Infantino. Rooney, alongside fellow pundit Micah Richards, speculated that keeping big stars in the tournament might be a driving force behind FIFA’s decision. Richards, calling it a “farce,” argued that the incident casts doubt on the tournament’s integrity.
The Royal Belgian Football Association couldn’t believe it either, pointing out that the ruling contradicts World Cup regulations and raises serious questions about fairness in the beautiful game. They’re exploring all options to challenge the decision.
