Final whistle in Tbilisi and our Wales U20s put up a brave fight against South Africa in the Junior World Rugby Championships, but ultimately fell short with a 52-33 scoreline. Despite missing out on the semi-finals, there were standout performances worth celebrating!
Steffan Emanuel was a class act in the centre, setting up a lovely line for a try and showcasing some deft kicks. With his bright future, he’s definitely one to watch as he makes his way into senior rugby.
Caio James was relentless, never taking a backward step. He scored right after winning an early penalty and made a whopping 17 tackles. Heart of a lion!
Tom Bowen took time to get going but when he did, he was a running threat, crossing the line with a beaut of a try. Though one was disallowed, his effort was spot on.
Our defenders had their work cut out; Osian Darwin-Lewis and George Tuckley made big shifts, with the former earning a try for his hard graft.
Special mention to Evan Minto, who was a powerhouse carrier, and despite a few fumbles, led the way in metres made.
The replacements came on buzzing with energy, with Yestyn Cook standing out, making space and beating defenders.
Though this wasn’t the outcome we’d hoped for, these young talents delivered moments of brilliance against a formidable South African side. Our future is bright with these lads! 🌟🏉
