🎾 **Djokovic’s Epic Wimbledon Night Ignored by Kids!** 🎾
Last night was one for the history books at Wimbledon! Novak Djokovic, the 24-time Grand Slam champ, pulled off an incredible victory in the longest quarter-final ever against Felix Auger-Aliassime. Clocking in at a whopping five hours and 15 minutes, the match wrapped up just before the 11pm curfew.
Djokovic, aged 39, may have urged his kids, Stefan (11) and Tara (8), to hit the hay early, but the duo wasn’t having it. They stuck around to see dad triumph in one of his career-best matches on Centre Court.
‘Towards the end, it was anybody’s game,’ Djokovic said, his exhaustion clear but pride evident. ‘These are the moments I live for in tennis.’
The quarter-final was a rollercoaster, with Djokovic clinching the win in a nail-biting super tiebreaker during the fifth set. Cheers erupted from the crowd and his family, with his kids leading the applause.
Though his energy was spent, Djokovic was all smiles when reflecting on having his family there, ‘I told them to sleep after the fourth set, but they didn’t listen – and I’m glad they didn’t!’
Despite being reminded of his impressive stats – 15 Wimbledon semi-finals in total, eight consecutive appearances, and his 55th Major semi-final – Novak brushed it off, focused solely on his next challenge against reigning champion Jannik Sinner. ‘It’s just another semi-final. I’ll look at stats when I retire. Right now, it’s business. I have the best player in the world coming up.’
