🏃♂️🚴♀️🏊♀️ Get ready, Swansea! The Ironman 70.3 is hitting the city this Sunday, 12th July, and it’s bringing some major road closures with it. Thousands of athletes, including elite pros from around the world, will descend upon our vibrant city to tackle this challenging triathlon.
The day kicks off with a 1.2-mile swim at the Prince of Wales Dock, followed by a breathtaking 56-mile cycle through Mumbles and the stunning Gower peninsula. Finally, athletes will conquer a 13.1-mile run, looping through the city centre and finishing at the marina. It’s a fantastic spectacle you won’t want to miss!
For those keen to catch the action, here are some top spots to watch from: The Woodman Pub in Mumbles, Three Cliffs Coffee Shop in Southgate, and The Secret Beach Bar & Kitchen at Blackpill Lido. Remember to plan ahead to avoid congestion, as there will be significant road closures across the city, including Oystermouth Road and Somerset Place.
Public transport is a great option for getting around, but check your bus and train routes for any changes. If you’re driving, expect some delays and remember to park mindfully, with closures affecting some car parks too.
