Rhondda Cynon Taf is witnessing a noticeable boom in planning applications for Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) over the past two to three years. It’s not just a local trend – many neighbouring councils across southeast Wales are seeing similar spikes.
📈 **The Numbers**: Between June 2024 and May 2026, the local council received 22 valid applications and made decisions on 28. Among these, 9 were given the green light, but 19 were refused, sparking some appeals. Out of the 10 appeals lodged, six refusals were overturned.
