Aliya Mohammed from Race Equality First describes these figures as a “wake-up call” for all. She emphasises that while there’s been minor improvement, having over 800 incidents of racism remains unacceptable, proving that racism continues to be a burning issue in our educational system.

Professor Uzo Iwobi CBE of Race Council Cymru finds these revelations both “shocking and heartbreaking,” insisting that every single incident points to a systemic failure to provide students with a safe, respectful learning environment.

Despite the distressing figures, efforts are underway to tackle this serious issue. Cardiff Council asserts its commitment to eradicating this behaviour by working closely with schools through initiatives that promote inclusive practices. The council’s Ethnic Minority and Traveller Achievement Service (EMTAS) is at the forefront of this, aiding schools to foster safe and inclusive settings.

One thing is clear: ambition alone isn’t enough. We must continue to push for lasting change, ensuring every child can learn without fear or prejudice. 🌈👫

Let’s stand together against racism and build a better, inclusive future for everyone! 💪❤️
