🚨 Big news for vapes in Wales! 🚭 The Welsh Government is considering major changes to how vaping products are packaged and sold, aiming to make them less appealing to young people. Over a quarter of 11-16-year-olds in Wales have tried vaping, and the proposed rules hope to tackle this.
What’s on the table? Think plain white packaging and simple flavour names like ‘apple’, bidding farewell to catchy names like ‘Cosmic Fog’ and ‘Cotton Candy’. Shops might also be required to keep these items out of sight, just like tobacco products. The goal? Keep vaping products out of young hands while still supporting adults who use them to quit smoking.
Deputy Minister Nerys Evans has voiced concerns about the current trend of bright and cartoonish marketing. “It’s simply unacceptable,” she said. The Welsh Government is now asking for everyone’s opinion on the matter before October 2nd.
