🐶💔 Shocking case of animal neglect in Swansea: RSPCA rescues two severely overweight Jack Russell terriers! 🐾
In one of the most extreme cases they’ve encountered, RSPCA officers seized two Jack Russells, Cai and Lily, from a man’s home after finding them dangerously obese. Sadly, Cai was in such poor health due to severe heart failure that he had to be put to sleep. Lily, at a staggering 14.2kg, was the most overweight dog the inspector had ever seen and struggled with simple movements and breathing.
William Johns, 68, pleaded guilty to not caring for the dogs and was banned from owning animals for 15 years. He received a suspended eight-month prison sentence. Johns’ health issues, including Parkinson’s and reduced mobility, were mentioned in court as reasons for his inability to properly care for the dogs.
Lily, who was later taken into the RSPCA’s care, made great progress. With a proper diet, she lost over 2kg in just a month and is now on the road to recovery, waiting to find a new loving home.
