After a battle with a rare condition that left her unable to walk upstairs, Emily underwent major surgery. Fast forward a few years, and she’s not just back on her feet – she’s gearing up to make history by becoming the first woman to finish all UK Ironman races in a single season!
Emily’s journey from enduring debilitating pain to diving into the world of triathlons is nothing short of remarkable. It all began when the Aerospace Engineering PhD student, from South Devon, took part in a 5k race just to see what she could achieve after surgery. Little did she know, this would launch her into an incredible adventure filled with challenges, discovery, and camaraderie.
With a second-hand bike and a heart full of determination, Emily tackled the Ironman 70.3 in Weymouth, proving the naysayers wrong. Her motto? “Anything is possible.”
Now, Emily is on a mission she calls “Operation Ironwoman.” Fresh off completing the Bolton 70.3, she’s set her sights on conquering Swansea, Leeds, Tenby, and Weymouth’s races. Through it all, she’s raising £10,000 for various charities, including St John Ambulance Cymru, to give back to those who’ve supported her.
Emily says, “Success is completing each race and knowing I gave it my all.” Her journey exemplifies triumph over adversity and the power of community.
