🎾 Big news from Wimbledon! Veteran commentator John Lloyd has decided this year’s tournament will be his last. After nearly three decades of bringing us all the action, Lloyd signed off during the men’s doubles final, where Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten emerged victorious. 🎤
Fellow commentator Todd Woodbridge broke the news, celebrating Lloyd’s long career just moments after the final point. Lloyd, clearly moved, expressed gratitude for the incredible journey it’s been. “I’ve got no regrets,” he shared. “It’s been a really good ride.”
The former British No. 1 shared that he considered leaving last year, but after an exciting summer of big courts and studio time, he decided to stay on for one more season. Now he’s ready to hang up his microphone, leaving behind countless memories of an era when tennis was at its peak.
But Lloyd’s not the only one making an exit! Jo Durie is also stepping back at the end of this tournament, and Andrew Castle will wrap up his commentating career with the final men’s singles match. Castle reflected on his 23-year tenure, noting the pressure and privilege that came with the role.
