Meet Ellie Waters-Barnes – a true warrior and now a doctor! At just 14, Ellie was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive cancer, which led to her facing early menopause by the age of 15. Despite the odds, Ellie fought through intense chemotherapy and radiotherapy and came out stronger.
Now at 25, she has achieved her dream of becoming a doctor! Ellie graduated with distinction from Keele University and is all set to start her new role at the Royal Stoke University Hospital. 🏥👩⚕️
Reflecting on her journey, Ellie is thrilled yet a bit nervous, admitting, “I don’t think anything they teach at medical school can quite prepare you for the reality of the job.”
What makes her story even more remarkable is her determination to use her experiences to help others. Originally considering oncology, Ellie decided that endocrinology might be her true calling, focusing on how hormones can impact lives.
Ellie’s journey is a testament to resilience and hope. Despite ongoing health challenges, she’s excited to embark on this new chapter, ready to face whatever comes her way. “I’m excited to be around all the teams, the patients – it makes it interesting when you’ve got all these different people around you.”
