Meet Jacqueline Hallett, a devoted sister who’s been tirelessly caring for her brother Tyrone, aged 60, for five years. Tyrone, a former bodybuilder diagnosed with frontal temporal lobe dementia, faced an unimaginable ordeal recently.

After a serious health incident, Tyrone was admitted to the hospital where he seemed to be on the mend and ready to return home. However, things took a sharp turn when his feeding tube was removed, leading to a sudden decision to place him on end-of-life care without input from Jacqueline.

For five agonising days, Tyrone was left without fluids, and a week without food. Determined not to give up on her brother, Jacqueline fought bravely to reverse this decision, and through her efforts, Tyrone’s fluids were reinstated. It was a moment of relief when Tyrone, nearing the edge, opened his eyes once rehydrated.

Despite the hurdles, Jacqueline managed to get Tyrone’s NG feeding tube reinstalled, and he is gradually regaining strength while in hospital. But challenges remain, including a drastic cut in his care package from 150 hours to just 42.5 hours per week – a move that Jacqueline is fighting to reverse.

This situation has left Jacqueline, and her entire family, in a state of distress. They’re demanding accountability and a proper care plan for Tyrone’s return home, where he can hopefully regain his strength and live life further.

As Jacqueline fights this battle, she’s highlighting the urgent need for awareness and advocacy in patient care and decision-making. Let’s send support and strength her way. 🌟
