🤰✨ What started as a suspected stomach bug for Sarah Hiscock from Caerphilly turned into a life-threatening scare! At 36 weeks pregnant with her third child, Sarah began experiencing unusual symptoms. Initially, she brushed it off as another episode of the repeated urinary tract infections she had been dealing with throughout her pregnancies. But things soon took a worrying turn. 😟

On May 13, Sarah woke up with diarrhoea and vomiting. Her situation worsened dramatically the next day, leaving her unable to leave the house. Unexpected symptoms like freezing cold feet and chattering teeth had her feeling uneasy and, trusting her instincts, she decided to call the pregnancy assessment unit. Initially dismissed as a stomach bug, Sarah’s mention of her icy feet prompted immediate action. 🥶❄️
Once at the hospital, it happened again—Sarah thought she was falling asleep but was actually having seizures. Tests revealed she was suffering from sepsis, a severe reaction to an infection that can be life-threatening if not treated swiftly. 🔬⏱️

Thanks to quick-thinking doctors, antibiotics were started, and labour was induced. Her daughter, Lilly Rose, was delivered the next morning and was also tested and given antibiotics as a precaution. 🏥👶
A night to remember, as Sarah hallucinated and saw her nan, now passed, by her side. A caring nurse stayed with her, offering comfort and support. After six days in hospital, Sarah is ever so grateful to the vigilant doctor and the team who recognised the signs of sepsis and acted promptly. ❤️🌼
Her advice? “If something doesn’t feel right, trust your instincts and get checked.” Sarah and her little one are safe and sound, cherishing life each day. 🌸✨
