In a heartfelt statement, Aimee shared, “I’ve recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. The good news is that it’s treatable, and I’m working with an incredible team to get me healthy and back on the field in a few months.”

Despite this challenge, Aimee is tackling it with the same resilience and determination she brings to the pitch. “Refereeing has taught me a lot about resilience, discipline, pressure, and backing yourself when things get tough. I’m determined to get through this and return stronger.”

World Rugby and the South African Rugby Union have both expressed their support. World Rugby Chair Brett Robinson said, “Aimee is an exemplar of our sport’s values and a wonderful person. We know she’ll approach her treatment with the same steely determination.”

Mark Alexander, president of the South African Rugby Union, praised Aimee as a “trail-blazer” and wished her a speedy recovery.

Aimee’s diagnosis highlights the importance of self-checks, as she urges everyone: “Check yourself, listen to your body, and don’t delay getting anything unusual looked at.”

We’re all rooting for Aimee and can’t wait to see her back on the field doing what she loves! 💪🏉💕
