A twisted 21-year-old named Nathan John, convicted for attacking two teenage girls, recently had his appeal to reduce his sentence shot down. Back in November 2024, John received a 20-year extended sentence for two horrifying rape incidents that occurred over 18 months apart. He argued that the sentence was “too harsh,” but senior judges were having none of it.

The first attack took place in Milford Haven when he was just 17. He violently assaulted a 16-year-old girl walking home, and after being caught, he shamelessly claimed the encounter was consensual. Fast forward to May 2024, while still under investigation, he struck again in Haverfordwest, attacking another 16-year-old. Armed with a knife, he brutally threatened and assaulted the young girl, further shocking the community.

John was found guilty of three counts of rape and sexual assault during his trial at Swansea Crown Court. The presiding judge highlighted the extreme violence and degradation in both attacks, noting John’s utter contempt for his victims.
Despite his defence claiming the sentencing judge didn’t adequately consider John’s age and maturity, the appellate judges disagreed. They highlighted John’s lack of remorse and empathy, emphasising the severe, sadistic nature of his crimes. They ultimately maintained that given the gravity of his repeated offences, the sentence was appropriate.
The case serves as a chilling reminder of the dark side of human nature and justice’s role in protecting society’s most vulnerable members.
