Micah Richards couldn’t resist a cheeky dig during the BBC’s World Cup final coverage, and host Gabby Logan wasn’t having any of it! The former Man City star casually took a swipe, teasing about the BBC’s decision to stay in Salford for most of their World Cup broadcasts, contrasting it with ITV’s glamorous New York setup.

Despite being at the big Spain vs Argentina final in New Jersey, Logan, Richards, Wayne Rooney, and Joe Hart have mostly been watching the action unfold from a UK studio, which has sparked some good-natured ribbing. Gabby playfully scolded Micah after his comment about the lack of atmosphere in Salford compared to the lively tournament venues.

“Fans were incredible,” Logan emphasised, highlighting the spirited displays, especially from Norway. Richards, with a grin, quipped, “There are not that many fans in Salford!” To which Logan replied, “You can’t say the S-word again.”
Even Gary Lineker, who now enjoys the buzz of Times Square with his new gig, joined in the fun. Reflecting on his BBC days, he couldn’t help but compare his former Salford studio view with his current New York City panorama. “This World Cup feels different,” Lineker mused, clearly chuffed with his fresh start.
It’s all fun and games on the pundit circuit, as Lineker and Richards seamlessly blend football banter with some behind-the-scenes laughs. Seems like the World Cup isn’t just about what happens on the pitch, but also the off-screen antics that keep everyone talking! ⚽📺
