Gemini was born with two noses and two mouths – a rare phenomenon known as diprosopus or Janus condition (like the two-faced Roman god). This is due to a developmental oddity linked to an overproduction of the Sonic Hedgehog protein, which plays a crucial role in facial development. Despite the odds being stacked against her, Gemini is proving to be a little fighter!

Shelley, who was amazed the moment she laid eyes on Gemini, has been providing round-the-clock care, ensuring both of her unique mouths are fed and keeping her warm and comfortable. The condition is incredibly rare, and unfortunately, the survival chances are slim, but there have been stories of Janus cats living long, happy lives.
