Exciting changes are afoot for Broad Island House in Barry! The historic Victorian building, currently empty and in need of some TLC, might soon be buzzing with life as a brand-new daycare centre. Salutem Shared Services has applied to transform this iconic site into a hub for educational and recreational activities tailored for adults with disabilities.
What makes this location perfect? Not only is it more visible and accessible, but it’s also closer to local amenities like leisure centres and health hubs. Plans include diverse activities like sensory art, sports clubs, IT skills, and even karaoke sessions! Plus, they’re committed to sprucing up the premises, giving the community a wonderful new asset to enjoy.
The history of Broad Island House is rich, having been rebuilt in stunning art deco style after a fire in the 1920s. Now, with some new signage and a refreshed look, it feels like the perfect time for a revival. This could be a fantastic opportunity for the community, offering work experience possibilities and a broader range of activities for those who need them most.
Keep your eyes peeled for developments on this enchanting project and imagine how transformative it could be for both the building and Barry itself! 💼🌟
