🌞 Stay safe this summer with the UK Health Security Agency’s simple 11am rule! As we enjoy the sunny holidays, it’s important to protect ourselves and our loved ones from the heat. The UKHSA advises staying out of direct sunlight between 11am and 3pm, when UV rays are at their peak. If you do head out, remember to wear sunscreen, a hat, and light clothing, and always aim for the shade.

Here are some more top tips for beating the heat:

1️⃣ Keep your home cool by closing curtains and windows in sun-facing rooms.
2️⃣ Hydrate by drinking plenty of fluids throughout the day.
3️⃣ Schedule physical activities like walking the dog or exercising during cooler parts of the day, such as morning or evening.

4️⃣ Stay informed by keeping an eye on weather forecasts.
5️⃣ Know the symptoms of heat exhaustion and heatstroke to ensure you can act fast if needed.
💧 Heading to the water to cool off? Remember to:
– Always supervise children closely.
– Swim at lifeguarded spots when possible.
– Enter the water gradually and remember it’s often colder than it looks.
– Never swim alone and always tell someone your plans.
If you encounter trouble in water, don’t panic. “Float to Live”—tilt your head back, float on your back, and control your breathing. And, if you spot someone in trouble, call 999 for the Coastguard.
Let’s make it a fantastic summer while keeping safety top of mind! 😎🏖️ #SummerSafety #StayCool #FamilyFun #UKHSA
