A harrowing incident unfolded in Carmarthen Park as court proceedings reveal chilling details. A woman, Joanne Sidaway, desperately pleaded for help after being repeatedly stabbed by her ex-partner, James McKenna. During the trial, it was shared how their relationship, which ended last November, took a dark turn on January 29th.

A regular dog walker in the park, Joanne was suddenly attacked, with terrifying screams drawing attention from passersby. Witness Susan Edwards recounted the horror, seeing Joanne in distress, bleeding, and calling for an ambulance, identifying her ex as the assailant.

Despite admitting to wielding a knife and causing grievous harm, McKenna, 57, denies attempting murder. He has been accused of lying in wait, armed with a large kitchen knife, before launching the malicious attack.
Injuries sustained were severe, including chest wounds and defensive injuries to her hands. After the ambush, evidence of the crime was discovered at nearby allotments where a blood-stained knife bearing McKenna’s fingerprints was found.
Captured on February 2nd with frostbite and carrying a prepared statement, McKenna admitted to the attack but continues to deny any intent to kill. As the trial at Swansea Crown Court progresses, the community holds its breath, awaiting justice for such a violent act. Stay tuned for more updates as the trial unfolds.
