🚍 Big News! 🚍

Prime Minister Andy Burnham’s latest move to cap bus fares at just £2 aims to lighten the load on your wallets, kicking off on 1st January 2027! Millions of Brits could save a third on bus travel, making it easier and more affordable to get around. But, amidst the cheers, there are some words of caution for the new PM – remember the 47 million people living beyond the big cities!

Debbie Porter from Destination Digital Marketing praised the initiative but highlighted the need for bus services to actually reach rural communities. 🌿 “A £2 cap is fantastic for mobility and eco-targets, but we need more routes in towns and villages,” she said.
While Chancellor John Healey backs this focus on cost-of-living relief, some money experts have mixed feelings. Michelle Lawson reckons the cash could better serve our roads, and others like Riz Malik aren’t convinced it should top the priority list.
Yet, Andy believes affordable transport is crucial: “No one should be priced out of transport. Lower fares will give people breathing space and connect communities.”
