Exciting plans are in the works! Cardiff University is proposing a massive new student flat development in Gabalfa. The site at the former Brickyard Business Park is set to be transformed into modern accommodation for over 650 students. Picture this: a six-storey building complete with social hubs, multifunction rooms, and even external courtyards for relaxing. Plus, it’ll have great connectivity with cycle stands, recycling areas, and car parking. This new development aims to meet the growing housing needs of students, acting as a natural extension to the Talybont residences.

But it’s not just about more beds—this project could give Cardiff’s student housing a fresh update, allowing for refurbishments of existing facilities that are long overdue. The proposals also highlight several benefits to the Cardiff community, including economic, social, and environmental perks. A new access road near McDonald’s will act as a key gateway to the Talybont residences from Excelsior Road.
Before these plans move forward, they want to hear from you! Public feedback is open, and all comments need to be submitted by Monday, August 17. This is your chance to shape the future of student living in Cardiff. Want more details or to share your thoughts? Check out the full proposal online.
