🚨 Attention Residents! 🚨
A massive wildfire in Blaenavon has been raging since Sunday, affecting about 200 hectares (or around 300 football pitches)! 🌲🔥 Thanks to windy conditions, smoke from this colossal blaze might be making its way towards Newport, so get ready for some smoky skies.
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service has been working tirelessly, using specialist tactics and gear to keep it from spreading. Crews are all hands on deck, facing demanding conditions as temperatures soar and the smoky atmosphere complicates efforts. 🚒
Folks, if you’re near the affected areas, it’s advised to stay indoors as much as possible. Keep those windows and doors shut tight to shield yourself from the smoke. Once it clears, remember to air out your homes.
This fiery ordeal is challenging, taking a joint effort with Natural Resources Wales, Public Health Wales, Gwent Police, and local authorities. They urge people to stay clear of the area to allow firefighters to do their job safely and effectively.
Keep safe, everyone, and let’s hope for some rain soon! 🌧️ Stay updated and support our brave firefighters as they work around the clock to bring this wildfire under control. 💪
