Airport drop-off charges in the UK are on the rise, with some places charging an arm and a leg! But good news for those heading to Cardiff – it remains one of the best bargains. Of the busiest 20 airports, Cardiff is the second cheapest, with a £4.50 fee for a 10-minute stop, even after a 50% increase since last year.

If you’re jetting off from places like London Gatwick or London Stansted, brace yourself for the priciest spots, charging around £10 for short drop-offs. Meanwhile, Edinburgh and Bristol aren’t far behind at £8.50. Shockingly, a recent analysis by the RAC reveals some fees are higher than a return flight from London to Zante!

While Cardiff Airport offers a free 20-minute parking option, it’s a bit of a stroll from the terminal. Across the UK, only Liverpool John Lennon, East Midlands, Belfast City, and Southampton have kept their drop-off charges steady this year. It’s no wonder people are fuming, given many major airports around the world, including those in the EU, Atlanta, Dubai, and Istanbul, offer free drop-offs.
Rod Dennis from the RAC advises caution, as missing payment signs in barrierless zones could risk fees as steep as £100! Always check for free short-term parking options, but be mindful not to overstay. Happy travels, and may your farewells be less of a financial farewell! ✈️💷
