Meet Sera Evans, the determined voice making waves in the Senedd with her unstoppable passion for education! 🌟 Born and bred in Cwmparc, near Treorchy, Sera’s journey from a small Welsh town to Oxford University is nothing short of inspiring. 🎓 Despite facing challenges, including making the painful choice to move her autistic son from Welsh-medium education, her dedication to bettering education for all remains unwavering.
Sera’s love for education started at home and was fuelled by her brother’s encouragement and her family’s support. Her path took her from studying modern languages at Oxford to teaching and working at the University of South Wales, where she helped countless students pursue their educational dreams.
Elected as a Plaid member for Afan Ogwr Rhondda, her mission is clear: champion education and advocate for children with additional learning needs, particularly supporting Welsh-medium education. 📚
Sera’s personal experiences drive her mission to ensure all children can access Welsh-language schooling, regardless of their learning needs. “If we want true equality for the Welsh language, we must ensure all learners, including those with ALN, can access Welsh language provisions,” she urges.
Her passion doesn’t stop here—diversity in public representation is another cause close to her heart. As a single mum, she knows the juggling act of managing a career alongside family life. Sera calls for more diversity and support in local government to reflect real lives and struggles.
Despite the hurdles, Sera’s vibrant and approachable style means she’s always ready for a chat on Treorchy High Street. Her commitment to community issues sets her apart, making her a beacon of hope and change. Here’s to the promising journey ahead for Sera Evans and the positive impact she aims to make for Wales! 🏴#WelshEducation #ALN #PlaidCymru #SeraEvans #CommunityChampion
