🥫🍝🍏 Free Food for Summer: Waitrose Joins the Mission! 🍏🍝🥫

In a heartwarming initiative this summer, Waitrose has teamed up to give away free baked beans, pasta, and fruit to those in need. Imagine ONE MILLION tins of Branston Baked Beans making their way to communities across the UK! Thanks to a fantastic partnership between Princes, Waitrose, Alliance Food Sourcing (AFS), and Felix, this dream is now a reality.
These goodies will be distributed through over 8,000 community organisations, schools, food banks, and community kitchens, reaching the families who need it most. This endeavour takes inspiration from the rich legacy of The King’s Coronation Food Project, as part of the larger efforts by AFS to combat food insecurity.

What makes this project unique? It’s not just about redistributing surplus food. It’s about proactively utilising factory capacity and supply chains to manufacture more food – specifically nutritious staples like baked beans. Princes is gearing up its production to ensure more food finds its way to those in need.

This movement is revolutionising how the food industry tackles hunger, ensuring a more reliable and steady supply of food. Waitrose is also testing similar projects with its suppliers Daybreak and Primafruit, aiming to redirect over 1.9 million meals by the year’s end to the UK’s largest food rescue charity, Felix.
Leading voices from Princes and Waitrose are thrilled about this groundbreaking partnership. As David McDiarmid from Princes puts it, baked beans are a British staple and they’re proud to “go beyond surplus” to actively produce for those in need. Meanwhile, Marija Rompani from Waitrose emphasises the ambition to rewrite the rules of the supply chain in favour of community welfare.
Let’s cheer on this innovative collaboration that’s set to make a tangible difference. Together, they’re rewriting the playbook on how food industries can tackle hunger and bring nutritious meals to the table. 🌟 #FoodForAll #CommunityFirst #UKStrong
