A Family’s Lucky Escape from a Raging Inferno in Pembrokeshire ππ₯

Imagine waking up to the sound of beeping and realising your home was on fire. That’s exactly what happened to Dai Hilton, his partner Danielle, their two sons, and their trusty dog Daisy in Pembrokeshire. Thankfully, they managed to escape just in the nick of time!

It was a typical night until the early hours of July 25th. Everyone was fast asleep in their chalet when Danielle, alert to the grating beep of smoke alarms, jolted awake to a house filled with smoke. Without hesitation, she raised the alarm, and the family sprang into action. Dai, who admits he’d sleep through a hurricane, owes his new lease on life to her quick thinking.

Once outside, they watched helplessly as their uninsured chaletβand everything in itβwas reduced to ashes. Fire crews from nearby towns fought valiantly for over two hours, but the fire was relentless, possibly sparked by an issue near their hot tub.
All four family members were treated for smoke inhalation and are safe, albeit in shock. Dai expressed immense gratitude to a firefighter friend whose foresight in fitting smoke alarms two years prior saved their lives. His motto now: check your smoke alarms!
With their worldly possessions gone, including essentials like ID and car keys, the family has been overwhelmed by community support. They’re currently staying with Dai’s dad, and there’s even a GoFundMe campaign to help them rebuild their lives.
A chilling reminder of the fragility of life, but a testament to the power of quick thinking and working smoke detectors. Stay safe out there and hug your loved ones a little tighter tonight. ππ¨βπ©βπ¦βπ¦π
