Pontypridd Implements Traffic Changes Amid Demolition of Buildings in Town Center

🚧 Heads up, Pontypridd! 🚧 Big changes are coming to the town centre as demolition begins for the old police station and Berw Road car park. Starting 3rd August, get ready for a new one-way system on Morgan Street, right by the bus station. You’ll still be able to get to the bus station and Goods Yard car park, but watch out for the signs guiding the new route.

If you’re driving from the north end of Morgan Street, a quick detour via Chapel Street will reconnect you to the main road. Plus, the footpath by the police station and car park will be closed, with clear signs directing pedestrians to alternative routes.
Traffic Updates

Expect brief traffic controls on Berw Road and Bridge Street as scaffolding goes up. While this might stir up some local traffic chaos, the Council assures us they’re working to keep disruption to a minimum and will spill the details soon!

In the meantime, note that the Berw Road car park closes permanently after 30th July. But fear not, plans for Pontypridd include a modern police base at Taff Street and promising mixed-use developments for the old sites. The future could see fresh public spaces, improved walking and cycling paths, and maybe even some exciting new residential and commercial ventures!

Construction is expected to wrap up in early 2027, so stay tuned for more updates. Let’s embrace the transition and look forward to a more vibrant Pontypridd! 🏗️✨
