🥔 A New Baked Potato Shop in Llandudno? Not Everyone’s Excited! 🥪

A fresh plan to convert a retail unit on Clonmel Street into a cosy baked potato and sandwich shop has sparked a bit of drama! While some neighbouring businesses have given a thumbs-up, one is raising eyebrows on the bustling street, concerned about too much competition, especially with chilly weather on the horizon.

The new shop, planned by Mr Jarrod Beech, promises to add a bit of flavour by creating two full-time and two part-time jobs (equivalent to three full-time positions). Imagined as a lively spot, it’ll open its doors from 11 am to 6 pm during the week and slightly shorter hours on Sunday. Besides its delicious menu, it’s stirring up a debate that’s hard to ignore.

One neighbouring business owner has filed an objection, worried about “oversaturation” of similar offerings on the street. They argue that during the quieter autumn and winter months, there simply aren’t enough people wandering around to sustain another food outlet without impacting existing ones. They also expressed concerns over potential customer overflow creating blockages on the pavement—definitely not ideal for the community.
It appears the conversation around foot traffic and variety on Clonmel Street is just heating up! The decision now lies with Conwy County Council’s planning committee at their upcoming meeting.
What do you think? Is there room for another spud-tacular spot or should the street focus on something different? Share your thoughts! 🥔✨
