**Gang Courier Behind Multimillion-Pound Drug and Cash Delivery Operation Jailed for 15 Years**
A man described as a prolific drug courier has been handed a significant prison sentence following his involvement in an elaborate UK-wide drugs distribution network. Nathaniel Armani, aged 46 and from Hoddesdon in Hertfordshire, was confirmed by police investigations to have played a crucial role in delivering vast amounts of illegal drugs and cash on behalf of an organised crime group operating out of London.
Welsh law enforcement officials revealed details of Armani’s criminal activities after his sentencing at Merthyr Crown Court. It was heard that Armani shuttled a staggering total of 11 kilograms of cocaine, 603 kilograms of cannabis, and almost £1.7 million in cash across various regions of the country. The wholesale value of the drugs he transported was estimated to approach £3 million.
The decisive moment came when, acting on intelligence provided by the southern Wales regional organised crime squad (Tarian), Cumbrian police intercepted Armani’s black Audi A6 on the M6 motorway in October 2023. The operation followed sustained investigations into both class A and B drug supply in South Wales, codenamed Operation Tender, which unmasked Armani’s pivotal role as a trusted courier for the London-based distribution network.
During the vehicle search, officers recovered an enormous cache of cash totalling £200,000, cleverly concealed within the car. Further examination of several confiscated mobile phones provided irrefutable evidence linking Armani to the crime circle, including text messages, photographs and video records showing the scope of the operation and his own direct involvement in the trafficking of drugs and money.
Speaking in court, Judge Jeremy Jenkins described Armani as being responsible for the distribution of “a quite staggering amount of cannabis,” as well as substantial quantities of other drugs. Armani had previously admitted to all charges, which included being concerned in the supply of cocaine, the supply of cannabis, and illicitly transferring criminal proceeds, namely the aforementioned £1.7 million in cash.
