This unfortunate error meant that Young was soon bound for Scotland rather than south to London—a non-stop journey in the wrong direction.
With no trains running back to London until the next morning, Young had to improvise. Shearer explained that Young embarked on a lengthy overnight Megabus journey from Edinburgh to London, which finally delivered him at nearly 7am. “He had to go all the way to Edinburgh, then caught the 10pm Megabus — £30 it cost him! By the time he got to London, it was 6:45 in the morning,” Shearer said.
