**Mel B Sets Sights on ‘Regal’ and Traditional Wedding at Iconic St Paul’s Cathedral**

Pop icon and former Spice Girls member, Mel B, has shared exciting details about her forthcoming wedding, promising a ceremony steeped in English tradition and grandeur. The acclaimed singer, whose real name is Melanie Brown, is gearing up to exchange vows with her fiancé, celebrity hair stylist Rory McPhee, at London’s historic St. Paul’s Cathedral during the summer.

After receiving the Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2022 for her services to charitable causes and vulnerable women, Mel B gained the unique opportunity to book the coveted cathedral—a venue famed for hosting only a select number of nuptials. In a recent interview, she described her vision for the event as “very formal, regal and proper,” embracing time-honoured customs such as requiring all female attendees to don hats or fascinators.
“It’s important to me that this is a traditional English wedding where I can truly feel regal,” Mel B explained. “I want all the ladies to arrive wearing hats or fascinators. It’s going to be quite the sight.”
But the celebrations will not conclude in London. Brown revealed plans for a second, rather contrasting ceremony in an undisclosed overseas location. She stated, “After the formalities in England, we’ll have a second ceremony abroad. That will be far more relaxed, sexy, and beautiful in a different way.”
The global music star has spent recent months working closely with designers from both London and New York, carefully selecting her ensembles to suit each occasion. She discovered her dream dresses at Evelie, an upmarket bridal boutique in the capital. For her English ceremony, Mel chose a classic creation by esteemed British designer Josephine Scott, and for the international event, a dramatic gown by renowned U.S. designer Justin Alexander.
“I’ve been having fittings in London and New York,” she added, “which reflects where my heart lies, both in Britain and America.” Her fashion choices highlight the importance of both elegance and individuality throughout the celebrations.
While excitement grows over the possibility of a Spice Girls reunion at the wedding, Mel B has opted to keep fans guessing about specific details. When asked if her legendary bandmates would play a role in the festivities, she coyly responded, “I’m not giving anything away. You’ll just have to wait and see.”
The upcoming nuptials will mark Mel’s third marriage. She was previously married to Jimmy Gulzar from 1998 to 2000, and later to Stephen Belafonte, with whom she split in 2017. Brown has been in a relationship with Rory McPhee since 2018.
During a recent appearance on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,’ Mel B spoke candidly about the challenging process of securing St Paul’s Cathedral for her wedding. “Getting married there is really tough,” she revealed, “because only certain people are allowed—and you have to be approved by the Dean and even the Archbishop. You’re questioned about your reasons for wanting to get married, and it truly makes you think about your relationship.”
There are also musical restrictions for the cathedral service. Mel explained, “You have to pick from approved, traditional pieces. It’s very grand and extremely respectful—very different from what I might listen to in my spare time, but I appreciate the sense of occasion it creates.”
Her story draws on both her public persona and her private journey, mirroring the blending of tradition and modernity in her forthcoming celebrations. As anticipation builds, Mel B’s wedding promises to be a headline-making event, capturing the imagination of fans and the public alike.
