The fifth person arrested was a 60-year-old man from Pontnewynydd. He has been detained not only on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary but also for possession of a Class B drug and having an offensive weapon in a private place. At this stage, Gwent Police have confirmed that all five remain in custody while questioning is ongoing.
During searches of the properties, officers recovered a range of items, including a vehicle, multiple mobile phones, bank cards, various knives, and jewellery. Investigators have yet to confirm whether these found items are connected directly to the spate of burglaries under investigation. Notably, prior incidents involved the theft of distinctive property, including commemorative coins, gold jewellery, and electronic equipment such as a Canon camera.
As detectives continue their inquiries, Gwent Police have urged members of the public to remain alert and adopt stringent measures to protect their own homes.
