**Police Appeal for Witnesses After Late-Night Robbery in Llanelli**
A woman was forcefully robbed in the early hours of Saturday morning as she made her way home in Llanelli, sparking a police appeal for information. The incident, which occurred shortly after midnight near the Ffwrnes Theatre, has led to an increased police presence in the area as officers seek to reassure residents and gather evidence.
According to Dyfed-Powys Police, the victim was walking along Glenalla Road at approximately 12.10am when she was confronted by an unknown man. The assailant reportedly pushed her to the ground before grabbing her handbag and fleeing the scene. Authorities have described the suspect as a man around 5ft 8in tall, slender in build, with dark hair and notably heavy eyebrows. At the time of the incident, he is believed to have been dressed in blue shorts and a navy jumper.
Investigators believe the man fled in the direction of East Gate and may have taken a path down the side of the Ffwrnes Theatre, possibly emerging onto Water Street. Officers are now combing the area for clues and asking local residents to remain vigilant.
The stolen handbag is said to be a distinctive grey leather drawstring design featuring a crocheted mandala pattern. Among the items inside were a purse, several keys, a power bank, and a tablet box containing medication. Police are urging anyone who might have noticed discarded items matching these descriptions to come forward, as finding them could prove pivotal in the investigation.
A police spokesperson emphasised their commitment to resolving the case swiftly: “We’re appealing to the public for any information that could help us trace the suspect or return the stolen items to the victim. If you saw a man running from the Glenalla Road or College Hill area around 12.10am, or found any of the described belongings, please contact us.”
In response to the robbery, officers have increased patrols in the vicinity to both gather information and provide a reassuring presence for those living and working nearby.
