The accident itself took place between Wheddon Cross and Timberscombe around 3.15pm. Moments after the coach left the road and overturned, an off-duty firefighter who happened to be driving behind the bus began assisting passengers, helping to free those trapped in the wreckage. The swift response of emergency workers has been widely praised by members of the local community.
