Yesterday morning, Tredegar’s town centre was a hive of police activity following alarming reports of a robbery and a man carrying a knife. Armed officers, alongside a dog unit from Gwent Police, descended on The Circle to handle the situation.


The man at the centre of the drama, 57-year-old Martin Haugh, was swiftly arrested and later appeared in Newport Magistrates’ Court.
