In Swansea, St Helen’s Road seems like a hotspot. Six vape shops, yet only one played by the rules. Disposable vapes, banned since June, and cheap foreign cigarettes with no health warnings were all too easy to purchase. When questioned, shopkeepers shrugged off legal concerns, one even admitting he didn’t understand the laws!
One shop, Bob Marley Vapes, was raided and it turned out they were hiding thousands of illicit products. The shopkeeper is now serving time, but it seems others haven’t learned their lesson. Shops like Vape City and Asia Vape continue to sell products at rock-bottom prices—£1 for vapes!
Adding to the problem, the UK Government banned disposables due to environmental and health concerns. They’re a major culprit in youth vaping and the littering of parts containing harmful chemicals.
Shopkeepers argue they’re just offloading old stock and claiming losses. Even when confronted, some, like at Swansea Market and Kubus Superstore, showed no signs of stopping. Meanwhile, Snoop Vape Store sold us cigarettes for £5, way cheaper than legal prices.
Authorities are stepping up their game with ongoing investigations. Swansea Council confirmed illegal sales are a top priority, and trading standards are cracking down hard.
