Jessie Wallace, the talented actress we all know as Kat Moon, was adamant that her on-screen daughter, Zoe Slater, should remain portrayed by the one and only Michelle Ryan. Jessie believed that replacing Michelle would leave fans feeling “completely conned,” as it just wouldn’t be the same without her.
After a significant absence, Michelle Ryan has finally returned to Walford, stepping back into her much-loved role. Zoe dazzled us on our screens again, years after leaving for Ibiza in 2005. Jessie had a heartfelt chat with EastEnders’ Executive Producer, Ben Wadey, insisting, “It has to be Michelle. It won’t feel right if Zoe is recast.” And voila! The magic is back!
Michelle revealed that the timing of her return never felt right before, but now she’s thrilled to be back, stating, “I surprised myself with how open I was to it.”
Zoe’s recent return might have been swift, with her fleeing to Barcelona, but worry not, she’ll soon be back to grace Albert Square this summer. We’re all eagerly awaiting her reunion with her mum, Kat! 🏡
