๐จ *Alarming Rise in Unroadworthy Vehicles* ๐จ

A worrying trend has emerged on UK roads! A whopping 52% increase in drivers caught behind the wheel of unsafe vehicles was recorded last year. In 2024 alone, 13,109 drivers were penalised for driving defective cars โ a sharp rise from 8,614 the previous year. These figures are shedding light on potential hazards posed by unroadworthy vehicles.

The shocking stats, sourced from the DVLA, point to a rise in penalty points issued for cars with faulty brakes, tyres, steering, or other issues. Drivers nabbed with such defects face three penalty points, which linger on their licences for four years!
RAC’s Nick Mullender highlights the alarming nature of this trend, warning it might only reveal the “tip of the iceberg” of vehicles in poor condition on our roads. Whether it’s brakes, tyres, or any mechanical part, every component is crucial to driving safely.
Chief Superintendent Marc Clothier from the National Police Chiefs’ Council urges: “If your car has defects, you’re not just risking your own safety, but the lives of others too.”
Let’s stay safe out there! ๐โจ Regular vehicle maintenance isn’t just about avoiding finesโitโs about protecting lives. Make sure your car is roadworthy by routinely getting it checked by a qualified mechanic or garage. Remember, it’s better to be safe than sorry! ๐ ๏ธ๐ฅ
