π¦ New Drink-Driving Change Could Be on the Horizon! πΊπ«

Big changes could be on the way for drivers in England and Wales as the government considers proposals to cut the drink-drive limit for the first time in more than 50 years!

What’s being suggested? The current legal breath alcohol limit of 35 micrograms per 100ml of breath could be slashed to 22 micrograms. This move would bring us in line with Scotland and most of Europe.
What does this mean for you? It could potentially limit many to just under a pint of beer or a large glass of wine for men, and half a pint or a small glass of wine for women. Remember, alcohol can stay in your system longer than you think, so be cautious even the morning after a night out!
Why the change? With drink-driving fatalities hitting a 13-year high in 2022, road safety concerns have revved up. Experts believe this is a “practical step that can make a real difference” on our roads.
Other exciting proposals include easier prosecutions for drug-driving with saliva tests and tougher penalties for uninsured drivers and seatbelt evaders. ππ¨
A new road safety strategy is expected to roll out this autumn, so stay tuned for updates!
