🏊♂️ **Pentwyn Pool Delayed Again!** 📅

Residents of Cardiff have been eagerly waiting for the reopening of the Pentwyn Leisure Centre pool, but it’s been hit with another delay. Initially scheduled to open by the end of 2025, the new date is now set for June 2026!

The frustrations are understandable as it’s been over six years since the pool closed during the first Covid-19 lockdown. The leisure centre did reopen in part, but the pool remains the place everyone wants to dive back into. So, what’s causing the hold-up? When work kicked off this year, unexpected issues popped up, from rusted steel to tricky foundations, causing the timeline to stretch out.
Local councillor Joe Carter expressed his disappointment, stating, “Our community has been without a pool for over five years. By the time it reopens, it will be over six. We deserve better!”
On a brighter note, progress is happening! The steelwork for the pool is now in place, and concrete pouring is underway. The new 25-metre pool will feature a moving floor and a children’s wet play area.
Rhian Vernall, from the Save Pentwyn Leisure Centre group, voiced the community’s frustrations over the lack of communication but remains hopeful for the eventual reopening. “Decisions have been made without adequate consultation, further adding to our frustration,” she said.
Fingers crossed that the next update brings good news and we’ll be swimming in the new, state-of-the-art facility before we know it! Stay tuned! 🏊♀️💦
