π¨ Cwmbran’s Sugar Rogue Gym Faces a Planning Predicament! π¨

Sugar Rogue Gym, at Springvale Industrial Estate, might have to pack its bags again due to planning permission issues! Having already moved once this year, the gym’s battle continues as it awaits a decision on a retrospective planning application. Their current spot, previously a storage and distribution site, is buzzing with new life thanks to a mezzanine floor, equipment zones, changing facilities, and staff spaces β yet official approval lingers in the balance! ποΈββοΈ
Run by the community-driven Thornhill Community Leisure, Sugar Rogue is more than just a gym. Itβs a hub for Crossfit, Hyrox workouts, and offers targeted sessions including youth fitness classes and women-only events to break down participation barriers. Since partnering with the local sports development team, they’ve launched Project X, a 10-week fitness and wellbeing programme for local men, combining Crossfit, military-style training, and mindset coaching. π

And letβs not forget their incredible fundraising efforts! In May, they raised an impressive Β£15,000 for the Velindre Cancer Centre through community events, including fitness challenges and sponsored workouts! πͺποΈ

Yet, despite all their community contributions, their previous location still faces planning hurdles. If they secure approval for Springvale, the gym will operate from 6am to 8:30pm on weekdays and 8:30am to 11am on weekends, with ample parking and bike facilities planned. π²π

Let’s hope this vital community fitness centre secures the green light soon. Fingers crossed for the Sugar Rogue family! π€β€οΈ
