⏰ Attention Neath Port Talbot residents! A recent report has highlighted some concerns about how our local council is ensuring value for money when commissioning services. 🏢📋

Audit Wales found that Neath Port Talbot Council needs to strengthen its processes to make sure we’re getting the best bang for our buck. The report pointed out that the council doesn’t consistently use options appraisals or fully consider the long-term impacts and value for money when planning and procuring services. 🤔💷

However, it’s not all doom and gloom! The council has recognised these issues and is already taking steps to improve. A new Procurement Strategy for 2024–2028 has been approved, aimed at boosting accountability and encouraging a culture of continuous improvement. 🌟📈
Audit Wales has given the council two important recommendations to help them along this journey: making sure options appraisals are consistently applied and that wider impacts and opportunities are considered. The council has responded positively, showing commitment to addressing these areas. 🛠️✅
This is part of a broader review being carried out for all 22 councils, with more results expected later this year. It’s great to see our council taking proactive steps towards improvement, ensuring we all benefit in the long run.
